Respecting and Loving our Husbands September 2011

New Heart  Respecting and Loving our Husbands September 2011

Ephesians 5:33

So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband

Titus 2:12

These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children,

Love in this verse is “philandros”. “philos means “loving friend” and “aner” means husband, the male companion of a wife.  So it means ” The special affection of a woman for her lifetime mate (husband), embracing him as her “calling” (stewardship) from God.

5362 phílandros (from /phílos, “loving friend” and /anḗr, “husband, the male companion of a wife”) – properly, the special affection of a woman for her life-time mate (husband), embracing him as her “calling” (stewardship) from God (used only in Tit 2:4).

The greatest need our husbands have is respect from us, their wives.  As you can see from the second verse love is important too.  Today, we just want to take time to show respect for our husbands.  One of the ways is to share something good about our husbands.  Sometimes it is so easy to complain or let little things slip out.  Not good to do!

If you don’t have a husband say something good about your father or mother.
